4. Yarns

Choose from Wool or Halo art silk. You may also choose cut or loop finish.

100% NEW ZEALAND WOOL

Wool is sustainable, renewable, and biodegradable. It is one of the few carpet fibers that is. When it comes to regeneration, sheep are unequivocally the best source for carpet fiber. Sheep live long comfortable lives producing wool as long as they live. There is less energy used to produce wool by a fractional amount compared to any other fiber. Properly cared for wool can and does perform without significant surface changes for many years. It is naturally resilient, stain resistant, abrasion resistant, insulating, comfortable, and luxurious.

5. Pile height

Choose high or low pile of each color. Try some ideas here. See how the pile height of an area can create a sculptural surface. A small change can make a beautiful result!

Our finishes are our opportunity for luxury. When we talk finish we are referring to the tip and heightof the yarn. For example, finish 7 uses low loop yarn as a field and a raised cut yarn for the detail. This high/low treatment yields a subtle shadow giving the surface a higher status, more presence within the room design. On the other hand you may want to dial down the role of the area rug by choosing finish 1, a level cut pile.

Each rug is shown with a suggested surface texture, Most of our designers are happy to go “as shown”, but you may certainly have your own ideas and we welcome your creative changes.

You will notice that the three methods of rug making each have a different set of finishes available. So when making your changes within a weaving method, be sure the finish is avaialable Check out the small box to see if the finish goes with the method

6. Size and shape

Any size or shape is available. Large rugs are our specialty! Choose any size, shape, or color. We specialize in extra large rugs! 30’x50’? No problem! HALO ART SILK

Halo art silk is the result of our commitment to solve the cleaning and performance weaknesses of the industry’s existing art silk. Our new generation of high luster type 6-6 nylon art silk is as soft to the touch as it is beautiful. This luxurious, but durable filament produces the perfect level of reflectance without the common imperfections found in similar art silk yarns. With Halo there are no dye ripples or spots, harsh shine, matting, or static build up, which are common when using viscose. With Halo there are ALSO no cleaning issues which plague rayon based viscose and its derivatives such as bamboo and banana art silk.
